Function
DNA-binding transcription repressor that acts as a master repressor of enteroendocrine cell differentiation (PubMed:37883554). Acts upstream of the endocrine gene network and directly represses expression of enteroendocrine transcription factors, such as NEUROG3, INSM1 and SOX4 (PubMed:37883554). In the intestine, prevents enterochromaffin cell differentiation by repressing expression of PAX4, a transcription factor that drives differentiation of enterochromaffin cell and restricts differentiation of other intestinal enteroendocrine cell types (PubMed:37883554). Also involved in the differentiation and development of type B pancreatic cells (By similarity)
